Church Lane Surgery, Boroughbridge
Background
One of the biggest infection prevention and control (IPC) challenges faced by GP practices is to meet Care Quality Commission standards. In doing so, practices can maintain high standards of safety for both patients and staff. Church Lane Surgery in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, was looking for a tool that provided staff with appropriate training which would assure the Practice that CQC standards were being achieved.
Solution
They chose the workbook from NHS Harrogate and District Infection Prevention and Control. Not only because it is produced by a hugely experienced IPC team, but also because of its user-friendliness. Wendy Dowson, Practice Manager, said, “It is important to have a clear, concise training tool, which the workbook provides.”
Outcome
The workbooks have helped staff with IPC measures. There has been a marked increase in knowledge of IPC practices but, in addition, the workbooks are now used as a reference tool to ensure continuing compliance with CQC and the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
