At the recent North Yorkshire County Council ‘Innovation Awards 2021, the ‘People’s Choice Award’ was presented to the ‘COVID-19 Care Settings Response’.
The COVID-19 Care Setting Response Team, which includes colleagues from The Health Protection Team, Public Health England, Quality Improvement Team from North Yorkshire County Council, City of York Council, North Yorkshire CCG, Vale of York CCG, CQC and ourselves Community Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), is a task group developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the group was to have daily meetings where we would discuss issues around outbreaks of COVID-19, monitor statistics in our area, support care facilities in testing and vaccination programmes and ensure that all care homes, supported living facilities and domiciliary care providers, were being supported throughout the pandemic. Our role involved managing outbreaks of COVID-19, undertaking COVID-19 support visits and delivering training sessions in IPC for staff who work in health and social care. The group has enabled us to build excellent relationships with care providers and ensured social care staff had a Team of experts on hand to help. We continue to work collaboratively with the group and believe it to be a clear demonstration on how health and social care partners and the NHS can work together.
We are very proud to be included in this recognition alongside other colleagues.
