Safe management of blood and body fluid spillages Policy for General Practice
Blood and body fluids, e.g. urine and faeces, may contain a large number of microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses. Contamination or spillages with blood or body fluids should be dealt with immediately, as this may expose staff and others to infection. Blood and body fluid spillages should be managed by staff trained in the correct procedure.
A downloadable Community IPC Policy for General Practice which can be adopted by your organisation is available below. Also suitable for use within Dental Practice and Podiatry.
Alternatively, a complete set of IPC Policies are available to purchase @ £85.99, including postage – details can be found on the flyer and resource order form.
